The performance team was established to provide member dancers additional opportunities to expand their dance education. We do this by performing at regional and national competitions, learning from the judge's critiques and attending master classes taught by industry professionals. We are also working to develop other local performance opportunities. Some members of the team have been fortunate enough to travel internationally to Italy and Spain and have gone on to become professional performers, teachers & choreographers.

- Technique classes in Ballet, Tap and Jazz Disciplines and conditioning classes*
- Summer technique classes.
- Participation in only one group is required (although you may be offered additional groups)
- Four regional competitions during the performance season*
- One (East coast) nationals competition or educational trip*
*New this season! For our Tap & Hip-Hop groups, you need only participate in the appropriate technique class and rehearsal.
*2 Competitions for our Itty-Bitty age group and 3 competitions for our Mini age group. Nationals / Educ Trip for these age groups is not mandatory.
In addition to the above requirements, every dancer is encouraged to participate in as much other training as is desired and practical based upon their personal goals. Additional training to consider would include tap, jazz, hip-hop, pointe and tumbling.
There are always extra costs involved when participating on such a team. In addition to the tuition for technique classes, there will be costs associated with rehearsals, costumes, entry fees, travel, etc. Specific costs will be discussed at an informational meeting prior to any decision to participate.
Our youngest groups, the Itty-Bitty's (5-6yr) & Mini's (6-8yr) have a "one price covers all" tuition amount which includes tuition, rehearsals, costuming and entry fees.
Any dancer that desires to participate with the “All Stars” must audition for a spot on the team. The audition date and time will be posted at the studio and on our website well in advance (select auditions from the performance team page). All auditions are conducted by the team directors. Keep in mind that as with any such performance based organization, not everyone will be selected to participate. The technical ability of a dancer, while certainly important, is not the only factor we consider. Some of the characteristics we look for include:
- Following direction
- Age appropriate technical proficiency
- Ability to quickly learn combinations
- Work ethic
- Adaptability - application of corrections
Shortly following the auditions, the results will be posted on the website with selections by performance group.
An informational meeting will be scheduled for the selected students and their parents. This meeting will be used to provide specific details regarding all aspects of team participation and the opportunity to ask any questions prior to any final decision regarding team participation.
